Protective Styles Szn ~ Braidless Crochet

As you know I’m trying to do more with my hairstyles, so I’m declaring this a protective style season (szn) where I’ll attempt to see how many styles I can do. This was to be done from October to December, but that’s just not happening. So, lets say March 2018 will close season.

I got started in October where I wanted something different for my birthday. I still love my afro but was definitely missing the “long” hair. My first option was a wig, but I just couldn’t settle on one. So one day I was on Instagram going through my feed when someone I knew posted a new picture where she had big, curly hair. I was intrigued at once because I knew she had natural hair and this hair fit her so well. I hopped in her DMs right away and she told me it was crochet hair and she did it herself.

I got even more excited. The fact that it was something new and probably wouldn’t cost as much since I could install it myself. So I ventured to YouTube to see how this was done, and to find the right type of hair. Throughout my search I discovered a new youtuber who was doing countless videos with crochet hair and she was also Jamaican (Caribbean sister, yay).

Now as you know, crochet is usually done like weave where you braid your hair then crochet the hair onto the braid. However, she was doing a totally different method ~ BRAIDLESS CROCHET. My interest kept growing as I can’t braid my hair myself at least not neatly. So you can guess what this hairstyle is –

Christmas Wish List // $20 and Under Gifts Inspo

T’is the seasonΒ and it’s time for another Christmas Wish list

So, my coworkers decided to do a Secret Santa within our little clique in the office using Elfster. Elfster is website designed for this kind of stuff; we can all register, create wish lists, shop, and message each other on this platform. PLUS it randomly pairs members up to their Secret Santa. For our little activity we decided on a US$20 (EC$54) limit.

While creating my wish list on the website I thought why not share it here as well? So here we are, my Christmas 2017 wishlist along with other items under $20 to inspire you in your gift giving. These gifts can be given to coworkers as well as friends or family without breaking the bank. It’s the thought that counts!

christmas wishlist!

Tip: Think about something they’re really into/love

We all know how much I love the beach, so of course here are a few beach inspired gifts to start off my list:

Eat Outs // Rum Bus Beach

As the name suggests it’s a Rum Bus; they redesigned an old double-decker bus into a bar then added several cabanas and hammocks, turning this place into an amazing beach bar and restaurant. It’s located on the south-western end of the island along a stretch of countless other beach bars; however the red bus definitely stands out. Next to it is OJ’s beach bar which we visited sometime ago.

Rum Bus view from the main road

We were back and forth trying to decide which place to check out on Sunday and finally went with Rum Bus since there were so many great reviews. Another plus was that the menu was available online so we were aware of the prices beforehand. I don’t know if that’s just a weird thing with me, but I prefer viewing menus online to see whether or not there’s anything I’d like or if I could even afford the place without breaking the bank. Therefore the menu availability was definitely a plus and helped with making our decision to check it out. Continue reading “Eat Outs // Rum Bus Beach”

Let’s Talk // Being a HATER

As I enter another year of life and we prepare for a new year (2018) I took a step back and began to analyze my life. Is it going how I planned? Did I achieve my goals/dreams? Am I becoming the person I want to be? Am I happy with myself? etc etc. Then, it crossed my mind how throughout this year I was being called a hater for my views on certain topics. Whether it was how someone was dressed, what they liked, how they acted or what they chose to do with their life. I had to stop and ask myself, when did I become that person?

lets talk

How did I go from the person who cared about what other people thought of me to one who had negative comments about everything. I wouldn’t say I’m an internet troll *I keep it in the group chats*, but I’ve definitely been caught sipping on some haterade. At least that’s what it looks like to other people, but maybe my opinions just differ from everyone else? Continue reading “Let’s Talk // Being a HATER”

Importance of Healthy Eating

Last week Wednesday I had the pleasure of attending a panel discussion on the importance of healthy eating. This discussion was put on by the Rotaract Club of Antigua and Barbuda in which I occasionally attend meetings. Sadly, there was an issue with panel hosts but it was still an eventful evening. The host of the night was Ms. Charity Dublin, a nutritionist by trade and fellow lifestyle blogger.
