30 Minute Meals: Sweet Chili Shrimp

Hey Guys!

It’s been awhile since you saw a food post, huh? Well, I’m still here in the kitchen whipping it up every now and again. Of course it is midweek, no more Sunday leftovers and you come home from work/school looking for something easy to do; well have no fear 30 minute meals are here! *lol, too corny?*

P.S I don’t do measurements and usually eyeball everything; I’m sure you can figure it out. Continue reading “30 Minute Meals: Sweet Chili Shrimp”

You Need More Than Motivation

Oooo its Wednesday, #HumpDay! Hope all is well and your week has been going smoothly, two more days until the weekend.

I know most of the time in order to get started with a project or plans for a goal we need a little push. Most times that’s readily available, whether it’s a person cheering you on or a podcast you listen to daily; the motivation is there. But what happens when you still don’t feel motivated enough or you’re not on the receiving end of any motivation?

This is the tough part.

Caribbean Festivals Bucket List

Now we all know of Coachella and the various EDM festivals in the US, but here in the Caribbean we have our fair share. Most may be in the form of Carnivals, however each island offers something different.

Here’s my bucket list of Caribbean Festivals:

Trinidad Carnival ~ Feb 2018

The biggest and the baddest.

The hub of Carnival.

With its long street parades, endless fetes and an abundance of soca music, VIBES and food; this is one carnival to definitely try in your lifetime. Even if you choose not to play mas there’s still plenty to do during the carnival season. But the main point is to experience the road parade. Their costumes are also extravagant and breathtaking you’d automatically fall in love with one. That also means that they could cost in excess of US$1,000. Natural Protein Treatment

hair update

So, I finally did a protein treatment last weekend and I opted for a natural, DIY at home one which I found on Pinterest. It amazes me the world of things you can find on Pinterest, I’ve pinned a gazillion pins to my natural hair board by now. Funny enough my board name is “Bye-Bye Creamy Crack” and we’re 13 months on a fully natural ‘fro.

Why did I need a protein treatment?

  • Sadly, parts of my hair lost its elasticity aka the curls weren’t holding. Whether it was wet or dry when I pulled the strand it wouldn’t bounce back.
  • Hair was also LIMP AF. It just didn’t have its body anymore
  • Needed added moisture
  • Recovering from heat damage
  • Protein = strength and length, which are my ultimate goals

Currently I am ~ 14.01.18

Styled Stock Images for Instagram and Social Media Socail Squares

So we’re two weeks into January and this is the state I’m currently in:

Time – 11:15 A.M.

Feeling – Anxious and Content

Eating/Drinking – A PB&J Sandwich with a glass of lemonade

Listening To – The sound of the fan and the trees blowing outside. It’s actually a pretty gorgeous day and I’m spending it inside #womp.

Missing – My newest friend Nella and also this boy I’ve grown a liking to

Wishing – Things were simple and all my “problems” would just go away. I know they’re probably minuscule to what others may be dealing with, but stilllll

Should be Doing – My work reports, but who does work on a Sunday? Continue reading “Currently I am ~ 14.01.18”

Damage Control! // Hair Update

So as you know my hair growth recently turned one year a month ago, and as a “celebration” I decided to get it straightened;Β BIG MISTAKE. When I say straightened I mean blow dried and flat ironed. I began to regret it when I was in the chair but still followed through, thinking what the hell. Well, now I know that I will NEVER be doing that again or at least I’ll try finding someone different to do it.

hair update

After a week my ends started fraying and my roots were growing out but the middle was still straight. I also wasn’t feeling it anymore and definitely missed my fro, so I decided it was time to get rid of this. Now, being that it was my first time doing this I thought that once I washed my hair it will be back to normal;Β WRONG. Or is this the heat damage people talk about? Anyway, I washed my hair once and it’s still straight; it was also feeling pretty limp and lifeless. My hair used to be so thick so I was pretty disappointed. Find Happiness in Yourself NOT “STUFF”

Happy Sunday! How have you guys been?

Happiness is something which we all try to achieve for our little own sanity. To be content, carefree, cheerful, merry, joyful all of that;Β It would be awesome if we could be happy 24/7 and not worry about anything but that’s just life.

However, many people feel that once they purchase something tangible or get into a relationship with someone, that they will be fulfilled. WRONG! That’s not how it works, or of course you’d be happy for sometime then you’d want something else again and the process repeats.

Instead of relying on “STUFF” for happiness; whether it be a new car, phone, clothes, jewelry etc etc try looking within. True fulfillment can come in so many other ways, here are a few: Continue reading “Find Happiness in Yourself NOT “STUFF””

Natural Hair Tag

Happy New Year once again. Towards the end of last year I added a new tab on the blog for Natural Hair. I decided to share with you my trials and errors that I go through with my hair in order to inspire others and gain feedback from you guys which may assist me. As it’s a new year I’m starting out with a natural hair tag which would give you a little introduction on my natural hair journey. I’m also not going to tag anyone so feel free to participate if you have natural hair!

Let’s get into it.

Tell us about your hair texture ~

My hair is thick and kinky, or at least it was before I decided to straighten it and end up getting heat damage (post coming soon). If I had to use the hair chart I’d say 4C because my curls are extra tight. Continue reading “Natural Hair Tag”

2018: Unapologetic + Unstoppable

Hey everyone! Happy Monday and an oh so Happy New Year! We made it! It’s 2018 and I have a mighty good feeling about this one. 2017 wasn’t all that terrible nor was it great; just like any other year it had its ups and downs or more downs than ups. Nonetheless, I remain hopeful to the new year and all the good energy it brings forth.

here's to 2018_

As I read many of my other bloggers last posts of 2017 I gained so much inspiration and words of wisdom which I plan to take into the new year. The word which got to me the most however was, “Resolutions aren’t the problem. Your discipline is.”Mattie James. That in itself struck a nerve, because I’d make all these lists of goals, plan a gazillion things in my head but do I act on them? No…. I’m lazy point-blank period and that has got to change for 2018. Continue reading “2018: Unapologetic + Unstoppable”
