Eat Outs // Rum Bus Beach

As the name suggests it’s a Rum Bus; they redesigned an old double-decker bus into a bar then added several cabanas and hammocks, turning this place into an amazing beach bar and restaurant. It’s located on the south-western end of the island along a stretch of countless other beach bars; however the red bus definitely stands out. Next to it is OJ’s beach bar which we visited sometime ago.

We were back and forth trying to decide which place to check out on Sunday and finally went with Rum Bus since there were so many great reviews. Another plus was that the menu was available online so we were aware of the prices beforehand. I don’t know if that’s just a weird thing with me, but I prefer viewing menus online to see whether or not there’s anything I’d like or if I could even afford the place without breaking the bank. Therefore the menu availability was definitely a plus and helped with making our decision to check it out. Continue reading “Eat Outs // Rum Bus Beach”

Let’s Talk // Being a HATER

As I enter another year of life and we prepare for a new year (2018) I took a step back and began to analyze my life. Is it going how I planned? Did I achieve my goals/dreams? Am I becoming the person I want to be? Am I happy with myself? etc etc. Then, it crossed my mind how throughout this year I was being called a hater for my views on certain topics. Whether it was how someone was dressed, what they liked, how they acted or what they chose to do with their life. I had to stop and ask myself, when did I become that person?

lets talk

How did I go from the person who cared about what other people thought of me to one who had negative comments about everything. I wouldn’t say I’m an internet troll *I keep it in the group chats*, but I’ve definitely been caught sipping on some haterade. At least that’s what it looks like to other people, but maybe my opinions just differ from everyone else? Continue reading “Let’s Talk // Being a HATER”

Importance of Healthy Eating

Last week Wednesday I had the pleasure of attending a panel discussion on the importance of healthy eating. This discussion was put on by the Rotaract Club of Antigua and Barbuda in which I occasionally attend meetings. Sadly, there was an issue with panel hosts but it was still an eventful evening. The host of the night was Ms. Charity Dublin, a nutritionist by trade and fellow lifestyle blogger.

Let’s Talk // I Strive for BADASSERY

Are ya’ll tired of hearing me speak about the Year of Yes yet? I hope not!
So, what is BADASSERY and why am I striving for it?

All compliments to Shonda Rhimes, Badassery is:

  1. (noun) the practice of knowing one’s own accomplishments and gifts, accepting one’s own accomplishments and gifts and celebrating one’s own accomplishments and gifts; 2. (noun) the practice of living life with swagger : SWAGGER (noun or verb) a state of being that involves loving oneself, waking up “like this” and not giving a crap what anyone else thinks about you. Term first coined by William Shakespeare.

Now that we got that lovely description out the way, why should we strive for it?

It was at an award ceremony where Shonda realized how other young women including herself did not know how to celebrate their accomplishments while being honored. They did one of three things, hid their faces, laugh it off or try to get the person speaking to stop. Continue reading “Let’s Talk // I Strive for BADASSERY”

Natural Hair Update

Can you believe it’s been 10 months since I did the BIG CHOP?? It actually feels like a lot more, but truthfully it’s only almost a year. After revealing the big news to you guys back then I think I only did one hair update, so here’s another! Let me tell you about my protective styles, products, mishaps, length check and goals.

Hair Type:

Back when I had relaxed hair I never knew people were actually classifying hair by numbers and letters; who even came up with this system? I definitely didn’t care much to find out my type until I needed to search for hair care tips.

My hair is THICK AF. No exaggeration and the curls are also very tight. *Wish I had taken a texture shot when I last washed my hair*. My hair also doesn’t seem to take in moisture quite well; when I’d first apply the product it’s good, but couple hours later and it’s dry. (Any fixtures?)

However, based on images and descriptions on the web I’ve decided that I’m a 4C with low porosity hair. Continue reading “Natural Hair Update”

In My Kitchen // Tasty Orange Shrimp

Back in the kitchen yet again! Let’s face it, I enjoy cooking, but detest washing the dishes after. I love finding new things to experiment with and I got to thank PINTERST for that. As a quick meal for after work or school I decided on shrimp for the meat; with a simple search and there were so many options. HONEY ORANGE FIRECRACKER SHRIMP spiked my interest and taste buds.

Post-Grad Life Update

So, it’s been TWENTY TWOΒ months since graduating from university. It’s almost two years!! I think I should stop calling these “Post-Grad” life updates and simply life updates because as much as I don’t want to accept it, I’m an adult now.
No more post-grad! Or can I hold on to it for a little longer???

Quick reminder: I graduated in December 2015 with a Bachelors of Science degree in geosciences with a concentration in Environmental Science. I had a GPA of nobody gives A F*** lol, is GPA really a big deal? Oh, and I graduated from the Midwestern State University #GoMustangs !!
