It’s More Than JUST Blogging

Hey Guys! Happy Sunday, hope everyone enjoyed their day and ready to tackle a new week. As bloggers, like any other entrepreneurs we always have busy weekends, especially if we’re blogging while working a full-time job or attending school. While blogging may feel like our “calling” I feel like there’s some misconception when this is shared with our friends/family. I can understand that blogging may be something fairly new and most recently the term Influencers, but I’m here to show you that blogging is so much more.

One of the first things you’d hear when you tell someone you’re a blogger is, “so you write your feelings and post them online?” or “you get paid to post reviews online?” I’m pretty sure there are so many other snarky remarks you may receive. But, what people don’t understand is that blogging is also a business and you’re gaining a variety of skills while trying to perfect one.

These skills/jobs include:

Photography

If you’re a beginner you probably won’t have the means of hiring a personal photographer to get shots of you. So you have to improvise, which means purchasing your own camera and tripod. Then you have to learn how to use all this equipment on your own, how to pose, find the right lighting/background, photo editing software etc etc. Continue reading “It’s More Than JUST Blogging”

Seasons are for a Reason

We all go through things in life, and I think if it’s one thing we always notice is nothing lasts forever. The lows we may feel, or a spontaneous high from something exciting; it’s all temporary.

A Season does not last a lifetime

Not trying to be the bearer of bad news here, but it’s the truth. Let’s talk about the bad first. Try and remember a time where you were scared at the outcome of something; or felt like “this is it” life has no meaning and the worst thing was currently happening to you. Now fast forward to present moment, was it really?

Were all of the things you thought of previously the worst things that could happen in you life? Were there no silver linings? Did they last forever? NO!

It’s all temporary. Continue reading “Seasons are for a Reason”

You Need More Than Motivation

Oooo its Wednesday, #HumpDay! Hope all is well and your week has been going smoothly, two more days until the weekend.

I know most of the time in order to get started with a project or plans for a goal we need a little push. Most times that’s readily available, whether it’s a person cheering you on or a podcast you listen to daily; the motivation is there. But what happens when you still don’t feel motivated enough or you’re not on the receiving end of any motivation?

This is the tough part.

Caribbean Festivals Bucket List

Now we all know of Coachella and the various EDM festivals in the US, but here in the Caribbean we have our fair share. Most may be in the form of Carnivals, however each island offers something different.

Here’s my bucket list of Caribbean Festivals:

Trinidad Carnival ~ Feb 2018

The biggest and the baddest.

The hub of Carnival.

With its long street parades, endless fetes and an abundance of soca music, VIBES and food; this is one carnival to definitely try in your lifetime. Even if you choose not to play mas there’s still plenty to do during the carnival season. But the main point is to experience the road parade. Their costumes are also extravagant and breathtaking you’d automatically fall in love with one. That also means that they could cost in excess of US$1,000. Natural Protein Treatment

hair update

So, I finally did a protein treatment last weekend and I opted for a natural, DIY at home one which I found on Pinterest. It amazes me the world of things you can find on Pinterest, I’ve pinned a gazillion pins to my natural hair board by now. Funny enough my board name is “Bye-Bye Creamy Crack” and we’re 13 months on a fully natural ‘fro.

Why did I need a protein treatment?

  • Sadly, parts of my hair lost its elasticity aka the curls weren’t holding. Whether it was wet or dry when I pulled the strand it wouldn’t bounce back.
  • Hair was also LIMP AF. It just didn’t have its body anymore
  • Needed added moisture
  • Recovering from heat damage
  • Protein = strength and length, which are my ultimate goals
