What’s your FUTURE lookin’ like?

Hey guys!!

It’s been a while huh? Well, I’m still here. Work been keeping me busy, and when I’m not doing that it’s a headache to do anything blog related. Finding inspiration to keep going gets difficult at times, but I try my best to continue this journey. Giving up is not an option.

So, let’s get into today’s post *which should also serve as an inspiration*:
What’s your future lookin’ like?

Vision Boardplanning

The point of a vision board is to illustrate visually what you’d like your life to be like in the future. That may include: family, career, travel and other life goals. Pictures may be taken from the internet, magazines and other illustrations you may have at home.

Designing a Vision Board

vision boardImage: Pinterest

If you’d like to make a physical vision board all you’d need is a bulletin/foam board, pictures, adhesive and other decorative items you may desire. Pinterest is definitely your place to check out for ideas and proper planning methods.

I always wanted to make a physical vision board, but like the procrastinator that I am it never came to fruition *yet*. In the mean time I decided to settle with a digital version in which I can place as my laptop background. *In hopes that I may see it everyday and decide to work on something towards achieving those goals*

So one day I was on Adobe illustrator clueless as to what to design, then I decided to finally start this long-awaited vision board.

Digital Vision Board

Just because it’s done digitally doesn’t mean it’s any less of a Vision Board.

You’ll first start off by:

  • Deciding the time period for you board – is it short-term goals (3 months, the current year) or long-term? Maybe a mixture?
  • Finding a theme – you may want to focus on a specific goal as opposed to all your life goals. In this instance you can create multiple, smaller boards and then join them all together.
  • Gathering images/words/phrases from a source which represent your goals; you can also attach affirmations to your board for further inspiration and encouragement.

*P.S you can search for Vision Board Printables online or on pinterest for pretty cool designs you can use.*

Ideas of themes to include on your board include:

  • Relationship goals (friendship, family etc)
  • Finance/Business goals
  • Health/Fitness goals
  • Travel/Passion goals

Below is a picture of the vision board I created in March on my first try. I’m not totally happy with it, so I may revisit it and do some tweaking. As you can see I tried my best to give each theme its own space; the ones I focused on were education, summer fun (carnival) and travel. Good Vibes Only happens to be my motto for the future.

Vision Board

Creating a vision board is all fun and exciting, but IT DOESN’T STOP there. You have to put in the work! Everything you came up with as a goal needs an action plan. Place your board in an area where you’ll see it regularly and be tempted to act on it.

To make your summer even more exciting why not have a Vision Board Party???

Collect magazines, foam board, scissors and extra supplies at your local craft store, gather the girls, get some food, wine and enjoy a night of planning for your future.
This can be an inspiring and exciting way to learn more about everyone.

Have you ever created a vision board?
How did it go?

As you know I’m currently reading Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes and it’s keeping me inspired plus pushing me to share my inspiration. *It’s a darn good book!*
It started with “You never say yes to anything” and here we are now being urged to “Ditch the dream; be a DOER, not a DREAMER.”

Let’s Talk: Finding your TRIBE

Hey guyss!!!

It’s Friday, so you know what that means….LET’S TALK!

Took me a while to come up with a topic then I tweeted about my difficulty, and two seconds later it came to me. Finding your tribe…..finding my tribe.

So what’s a TRIBE and WHY should you find one?

In the simplest of terms a TRIBE is a “distinctive and close-knit group.” It can range from your family to your close friends and even teammates/club members. However, more specifically to me a tribe is your support system – as the quote above says, they help you to be your BEST self. Continue reading “Let’s Talk: Finding your TRIBE”

Things to be HAPPY about // A-Z Gratitude Challenge

Hey Guys!

It’s the last day of May and before we enter June, *half way through 2017, whoa* I just want to take a moment and recognize all the things I have to be thankful/happy for. So here’s a little alphabet challenge:

A-Z Gratitude Challenge:

A – Art; the only way I know how to express myself, whether it’s writing, drawing, painting, or creating

B – Blogging + Books; I’m happy to have found an outlet where I can share my thoughts and inspire people. For writers who also have the power of inspiring others and spreading their wisdom through books.

C – Carnival; A Caribbean festival which happens in the Summer for our island (Antigua). The first time I participated in the parade wearing a costume it felt magical. I love this experience! * can’t wait to do it in other parts of the region/world* Continue reading “Things to be HAPPY about // A-Z Gratitude Challenge”

Motivation Monday #8 // “You never say yes to anything.”

Hey Guys!
Happy Monday, no blues round here!

If you follow me on Instagram you’d know that I finally got two books that have been on my Book List for months now. Well, since I watched GirlBoss on Netflix and got the gist of it I decided to start with Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes.

Even though I’m pretty sure I can read through this book quickly, I decided to take my time with it. Lo and behold the first chapter already brought me inspiration, which is why you’re now reading this.

85 Years of Growth

Two Sundays ago I attended a Thanksgiving Service on behalf of the Girl Guides Association of Antigua and Barbuda. It was their 85th Anniversary under the theme GROW.

Hey April!

(via brookeweeberillustration: April Flowers. | ❀ Spring Sweetness ❀ | Pin…):

Hey guys!

Welcome to a new month.  I like the feel of new months, because I think they’re a chance for a fresh start. As cliché as it may sound it’s a great time for a new beginning; forget all about what went wrong last month and focus on the current moment. All the goals you made at the beginning of the year, continue to work on them and set individual steps to reach them. Continue reading “Hey April!”

5 Lessons of Blogging (+ tips)

Hey Guys,

Before we get into today’s post here are a few facts:

I’ve been blogging on and off for about three years now *whoa*.

I’ve had about three name changes finally sticking with ATBA.

When I first decided to start blogging I had no idea what I was doing.
(I don’t even recall doing research or anything; I just jumped and signed up on WordPress.)

I wish I could I remember my first post to share it with you guys, but overtime I’ve gone back to the earlier years and cleaned up some posts. Reading over old posts really makes you see how much you’ve grown and the way in which things change.

Anyway enough chit chatter here are my 5 Lessons of Blogging.

Daily Reminder

Hey Guys!!

Today I wasn’t really feeling myself and decided to find an old journal I had to review the pages. It’s a journal from 2014 when I was just getting into the process of blogging/finding myself. I wrote a lot about different things happening in my life along with my goals for upcoming years. Basically, I wanted to look back at past stuff to see whether I was really growing or if any changes were actually happening in my life. Sometimes the reminders are good to show you that your life do has meaning and you’ll get through this.

Flipping through the pages I also found a little poem (words I wrote) which I wanted to share; as it needs to be not only a daily reminder for me, but for others as well.
