Damage Control! // Hair Update

So as you know my hair growth recently turned one year a month ago, and as a “celebration” I decided to get it straightened; BIG MISTAKE. When I say straightened I mean blow dried and flat ironed. I began to regret it when I was in the chair but still followed through, thinking what the hell. Well, now I know that I will NEVER be doing that again or at least I’ll try finding someone different to do it.

After a week my ends started fraying and my roots were growing out but the middle was still straight. I also wasn’t feeling it anymore and definitely missed my fro, so I decided it was time to get rid of this. Now, being that it was my first time doing this I thought that once I washed my hair it will be back to normal; WRONG. Or is this the heat damage people talk about? Anyway, I washed my hair once and it’s still straight; it was also feeling pretty limp and lifeless. My hair used to be so thick so I was pretty disappointed. Find Happiness in Yourself NOT “STUFF”

Happy Sunday! How have you guys been?

Happiness is something which we all try to achieve for our little own sanity. To be content, carefree, cheerful, merry, joyful all of that; It would be awesome if we could be happy 24/7 and not worry about anything but that’s just life.

However, many people feel that once they purchase something tangible or get into a relationship with someone, that they will be fulfilled. WRONG! That’s not how it works, or of course you’d be happy for sometime then you’d want something else again and the process repeats.

Instead of relying on “STUFF” for happiness; whether it be a new car, phone, clothes, jewelry etc etc try looking within. True fulfillment can come in so many other ways, here are a few: Continue reading “Find Happiness in Yourself NOT “STUFF””

Natural Hair Tag

Happy New Year once again. Towards the end of last year I added a new tab on the blog for Natural Hair. I decided to share with you my trials and errors that I go through with my hair in order to inspire others and gain feedback from you guys which may assist me. As it’s a new year I’m starting out with a natural hair tag which would give you a little introduction on my natural hair journey. I’m also not going to tag anyone so feel free to participate if you have natural hair!

Let’s get into it.

Tell us about your hair texture ~

My hair is thick and kinky, or at least it was before I decided to straighten it and end up getting heat damage (post coming soon). If I had to use the hair chart I’d say 4C because my curls are extra tight. Continue reading “Natural Hair Tag”

Blogging, Inspiration

2018: Unapologetic + Unstoppable

Hey everyone! Happy Monday and an oh so Happy New Year! We made it! It’s 2018 and I have a mighty good feeling about this one. 2017 wasn’t all that terrible nor was it great; just like any other year it had its ups and downs or more downs than ups. Nonetheless, I remain hopeful to the new year and all the good energy it brings forth.

here's to 2018_

As I read many of my other bloggers last posts of 2017 I gained so much inspiration and words of wisdom which I plan to take into the new year. The word which got to me the most however was, “Resolutions aren’t the problem. Your discipline is.”Mattie James. That in itself struck a nerve, because I’d make all these lists of goals, plan a gazillion things in my head but do I act on them? No…. I’m lazy point-blank period and that has got to change for 2018. Continue reading “2018: Unapologetic + Unstoppable”

Blogmas Day 7 // A Holiday Drink

I don’t know about you guys, but one of my favorite holiday drinks is Sorrel. I look forward to it every year and get so excited when I see my grandmother has finally made it.

Sorrel drink comes from the plant Roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa), which is a species of Hibiscus native to West Africa. It is made from the petals which are boiled then strained with added flavors and sweeteners.

1 // What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas to me, means family time, celebrating with loved ones, reconnecting with old friends, giving as well lots and lots of food haha. I love that there’s a festive feeling in the air and it also signals to me time for reflection and keeping things close that keep me grounded. Blogmas Day 5 // A Caribbean Christmas pt 2

It’s nice hearing the different views on how others celebrate the season, don’t you agree? We got started hearing from two of my blogging buddies in Grenada and Guyana (here); now we’re going to hear from three more within the Caribbean region.

1 // What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas to me, isn’t necessarily a religious thing – it’s a season of giving, celebrating all the experiences I had during the year & celebrating that with friends & family by showing appreciating through gifts, good food & good vibes.  Continue reading “Blogmas Day 5 // A Caribbean Christmas pt 2”

Blogmas Day 4 // A Caribbean Christmas Pt 1

Remember when I promised you guys something new this blogmas? Well, here it is! Instead of sharing with you my story, I decided to question some of my other Caribbean bloggers and share their stories with you. It will be a three-part series in order as to not have a lengthy post.

In the tradition of keeping it short and sweet, I simply asked each blogger two questions ~

1 // What does Christmas mean to you?

2 // How do you celebrate the season in your country?

Blogmas Day 3 ~ Year End Bucket List

So there are two more weeks left in the year, or more so sixteen days and you’re probably thinking what can we/I get done in that amount of time. Well, that’s all a part of the challenge a bucket list brings. Today I’m sharing a few things I hope to accomplish before the year ends. Feel free to apply them in your own way ~

1 //  Making peace with my past

This includes any and every “bad” thing that happened in 2017. Letting go of grudges if that means forgiving those who wronged me or forgiving myself, as well as making my amends with anyone I need to. Also, settling any debt or outstanding payments *lol* or at least starting the process.

2 // Finishing things I started

We all start things without fully completing them so this is our chance. Earlier in the year I watched Girl Boss on Netflix, wrote a post which got a lot of attention but still haven’t finished the darn book. I will complete it before the year ends, because I have new additions to start. Continue reading “Blogmas Day 3 ~ Year End Bucket List”
