Motivation Monday #9 // Be a DOER, NOT a DREAMER

It’s Monday again, so that means more motivation for you guys + gals!

As you know I’m currently reading Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes and it’s keeping me inspired plus pushing me to share my inspiration. *It’s a darn good book!*
It started with “You never say yes to anything” and here we are now being urged to “Ditch the dream; be a DOER, not a DREAMER.”

Well Shonda, I’M A DREAMER……it’s all I’ve ever been
*maybe that’s why I often times feel stuck*

2017 Book List

Every year I make it a resolution to read more books, but do I actually get it done?
Last year I read on total one and a half books, embarrassing right?
There was once a time when I was running through books like nothing always eager for the next. Throughout my childhood years it was Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys, but as I got older I developed an interest in Nora Roberts, Sandra Brown, John Grisham and my favorite James Patterson. I was mostly drawn to love stories or crime/thrillers/mystery. Continue reading “2017 Book List”

Destination Unknown

I can’t believe there are only THREE days left in the year; 2016 is definitely getting out of here with quickness. That also means three more days to get my life in order and make some goals for 2017.

For this year I only started making plans in January which was extra late, but this time hopefully it’s not the same. At the beginning of the year I was living in Texas and had a totally different outlook on my life and where I’d be at this point in time.

It’s good to make plans and to have an idea of where you want to go in life and the accomplishments you want to make. However, some times everything doesn’t go as planned and changes occur. The path I had set out for myself in January took many turns, and eventually I had no choice but to go with the flow.

As I go into 2017 I welcome new pathways in hopes that they enrich me with blessings and lessons to be learnt.

Welcome Home

101 Things to do in 1001 Days

Hey guys!!

Welcome to my new page “101 in 1001”. A lot of you may have seen other bloggers participating in this goal list challenge, and I thought why not? It’s an easy way to set some goals, make some new posts, and in some way be held accountable for completing them. I originally got this idea from blogger Jhaneel Lockhart and you can see her list here. It’s basically a list of 101 things you’d like to complete in 1001 days (2.75 years). I followed her idea of breaking it into groups: Long overdue, Personal, Travel, Antigua (where I currently live), Food, Family/Friends, Passion projects, Just for fun, Blog goals, and other.  So without delaying any further, here is my list!

I Appreciate You

I admire the individuals who continue to be themselves even when society says different.

I admire people who go against the status quo; those who don’t see the need to fit in, but rather be something different.

I admire creative minds, and their way with words, a paintbrush/pen/pencil or a camera.

I admire individuals who no matter what continue to do what they love.

Just a few things I admire.

I know this was supposed to be a photo challenge but I decided to turn it into my own.

100 Days of Islandstrations

Hey Guys!!

Some of you know about my interest in Adobe Illustrator, and how I used to fiddle around a bit with it. Well, just like blogging I fell off for a bit, but now I’m back *I think*. I came across this challenge on my instagram and decided to take part. After all it seems like a good way to get back into creating as well as being fun, so why not?

The challenge was created by Elle Luna on IG, and is titled #The100DayProject. It’s basically a project for creating whatever your heart desires for 100 days in a row. It may sound like a lot, but it may also be a good push to actually complete something, plus come up with new ideas.

In order to separate each person’s submissions and to make it unique we were all prompted to come up with out unique hashtag. I decided to call mine #100DaysofIslandstrations_CBA. Pretty long, right? First off, what’s an “Islandstration”? An islandstration is basically an island illustration. I decided to dedicate my 100 days toward creating illustration pieces representing island life. CBA is basically just my logo for “created by Ali”.

So, I invite all of you to check out my entries, as well as others on Instagram or just by using the hashtag.

The Ultimate Getaway

Take a moment and open your mind to me; use your imagination.

Sand between your toes; small, soft grains falling on your feet as you walk. Depending on the time of day it may feel warm or cold.
Salty air burning your nose or feeling the salt dry on your skin;
Warm sun rays against your face;
Sound of crashing waves against the rocks;

If you haven’t guessed it, i’m talking about THE BEACH. *my favorite place*

The beach can change an individual’s mood with the calming sounds and beautiful landscape. Wee hours of the morning along with the setting of the sun, there’s a play of colors on the sky in which beach-goers enjoy watching. There is really nothing like an island sunset/sunrise; blues, yellows, purples all floating in the sky only begs for the perfect photograph accompanied by the calming sea.

Described as loyal, the beach is said to be like a best friend; listening when you speak and never revealing your secrets are few of the qualities. However, the waves show a violent side and become angry when screams are heard.

50 shades of blue with an addition of palm tress blowing in the wind, and white cotton candy clouds.
Soft, silky sand as you lay to catch a tan or simply enjoy the sea breeze and tranquility of the bay.
Wouldn’t you like to visit?
