Blogmas Day 7 // A Holiday Drink

I don’t know about you guys, but one of my favorite holiday drinks is Sorrel. I look forward to it every year and get so excited when I see my grandmother has finally made it.

Sorrel drink comes from the plant Roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa), which is a species of Hibiscus native to West Africa. It is made from the petals which are boiled then strained with added flavors and sweeteners.

Blogmas Day 5 // A Caribbean Christmas pt 2

It’s nice hearing the different views on how others celebrate the season, don’t you agree? We got started hearing from two of my blogging buddies in Grenada and Guyana (here); now we’re going to hear from three more within the Caribbean region.

1 // What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas to me, isn’t necessarily a religious thing – it’s a season of giving, celebrating all the experiences I had during the year & celebrating that with friends & family by showing appreciating through gifts, good food & good vibes.  Continue reading “Blogmas Day 5 // A Caribbean Christmas pt 2”

Blogmas Day 4 // A Caribbean Christmas Pt 1

Remember when I promised you guys something new this blogmas? Well, here it is! Instead of sharing with you my story, I decided to question some of my other Caribbean bloggers and share their stories with you. It will be a three-part series in order as to not have a lengthy post.

In the tradition of keeping it short and sweet, I simply asked each blogger two questions ~

1 // What does Christmas mean to you?

2 // How do you celebrate the season in your country?

Blogmas Day 2 // Oh Christmas Tree

To get the ball rolling on ATBA 12 Days of BlogmasChristmas Trees!

When we were younger we all used to participate in helping to decorate the tree, but now we just let our mom handle it. She loves this sort of thing and always likes it done a specific way. Today I’m going to be showing you my tree at home as well as two others at my work office. One of our department heads also loves decorating and you’ll soon see that she’s a boss at it!

The time spent decorating the tree (or watching as others do it) all adds to the grand Christmas feeling. I love seeing people express their creativity in a variety of ways; including all the different types of ornaments used, the color schemes and added decor.

Blogmas Day 1 // Welcome

Ahhhh it’s finally Christmas season! Well, to be honest I’ve been in the mood for quite sometime (aka after thanksgiving). I don’t know what it is about Christmas that makes me feel so happy and excited; it’s not even about getting gifts (I don’t anymore) but the all around good mood is amazing.

Anyway, this is my “fourth” year blogging and I’m deciding to give Blogmas a second try! Yes, I tried it for my first last year but didn’t complete all the days. Plus I was and still am only doing 12 Days of Blogmas. For those of you who are unsure about what “Blogmas” is, it’s practically blogging for Christmas where bloggers will upload a variety of Christmas related posts. It can be from the beginning of December until Christmas or from 13th until. Youtubers also participate by calling it vlogmas.

Here’s a little recap of last year’s blogmas:

Christmas Wish List // $20 and Under Gifts Inspo

T’is the season and it’s time for another Christmas Wish list

So, my coworkers decided to do a Secret Santa within our little clique in the office using Elfster. Elfster is website designed for this kind of stuff; we can all register, create wish lists, shop, and message each other on this platform. PLUS it randomly pairs members up to their Secret Santa. For our little activity we decided on a US$20 (EC$54) limit.

While creating my wish list on the website I thought why not share it here as well? So here we are, my Christmas 2017 wishlist along with other items under $20 to inspire you in your gift giving. These gifts can be given to coworkers as well as friends or family without breaking the bank. It’s the thought that counts!

christmas wishlist!

Tip: Think about something they’re really into/love

We all know how much I love the beach, so of course here are a few beach inspired gifts to start off my list:

#Blogmas Day 3: Christmas Movies

What’s Christmas without Movies??

Every year around this time I look forward to Freeform’s (previously ABC Family) 25 Days of Christmas. It’s basically all the greatest movies showing everyday until Christmas, exciting, right?

Here are my Top 6 that are a MUST see every time –

As much as I enjoy these movies I also share my TV time with Hallmark Channel. Their Christmas movie program is also one to keep up with; good movies showcasing everything you love about the season.

#Blogmas Day 2: Cheesecake Recipe

Hey Guyysss!!

So apart from my Sunday adventures I also decided to whip up something in the kitchen. I’ve been known to bake cheesecakes for quite some time now, and well its also been awhile.

Ingredients:

3 packages (8 ounces) cream cheese
3 eggs
3/4 cups white sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp vanilla essence
1/8 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 cup heavy whipping cream

Preheat Oven to 375 degrees
*I purchased a premade graham cracker crust*
Soften cream cheese in a large bowl
Add eggs one at a time and combine
Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth
Pour into pan and bake for 1 hr
Let cake cool then refrigerate overnight.

What are some of your favorite desserts for the season?
